Garlic boosts our immunity, and is possibly Eliza’s personal favorite food/herb for everything. Garlic is a powerful anti-viral, antibacterial and antifungal, killing microbes that can harm us. It also supports cardiovascular health by both producing a unique antioxidant molecule which lowers blood pressure and by absorbing the plaque-forming molecules on our blood vessel walls.
Turmeric is also a wonderful addition to our cognitive health and can help reduce brain fog. Turmeric reduces systemic inflammation and improves the conversion of plant-based omega-3s into DHA in the brain, thereby protecting the brain. Eating turmeric with black pepper and a healthy fat like olive oil, can improve its bioavailability, meaning, the body can easily absorb it and put its nutrients to use!
We call this “immunity dressing” because the components in the dressing will help strengthen your immune system, AND the greens you put the dressing on will also be immune boosters.
Whip this baby up and have it on hand to make any side of greens more nourishing and tasty. As we’ve mentioned in other recipes, making homemade salad dressings before you need them is a great way to do meal prep that encourages the consumption of our health-supportive greens superfoods.
